Packaging and accessory designer Archana Patil enjoys the opportunity to play with waste material in the effort to create something new.
Currently she works with Gurgaon-based Decorpac India Pvt.Ltd. where her job is to provide design solutions for packaging, and design accessories from waste so produced.
“There is always this cycle, – Archana says, – something is constructed once, it will be deconstructed, and then again something new is constructed, be it is just a concept, function, use or purpose. This happens because of evolution or change in culture or thinking. People change, culture changes, everything changes, and so should the products!”
Her projects in sustainability design brought understanding of simple solutions having greater impact:
“First play with what you have, and then keep updating it according to culture, social, environment and economic changes, so that the idea itself can sustain. The needs of users are based on upon changes. Anything simplified has much impact. When the user is happy, nothing goes waste!”
